چکیده

Introduction A major problem in tissue engineering is vascularisation of an implant/tissue, or at least the peri-implantational area. Furthermore, once a fibrotic capsule is established, the approach of small blood vessels to the implant is blocked. As a novel vascularization strategy, we have recently proposed to use prolyl hydroxylase inhibitors (PHi) as they possess both angiogenic and antifibrotic effects [1, 2]. We seek to develop a biomaterial with both vascularization and antifibrotic properties by incorporating PHi into electrospun medical grade poly--caprolactone/collagen and electrosprayed hyaluronic acid hydrogel, Heprasil (mPCL/Col-Hep) scaffolds.

Antifibrotic therapies to control cardiac fibrosis

Cardiac fibrosis occurs naturally after myocardial infarction. While the initially formed fibrotic tissue prevents the infarcted heart tissue from rupture, the progression of cardiac fibrosis continuously expands the size of fibrotic tissue and causes cardiac function decrease. Cardiac fibrosis eventually evolves the infarcted hearts into heart failure. Inhibiting cardiac fibrosis from progress...

High Calcium Bioglass Enhances Differentiation and Survival of Endothelial Progenitor Cells, Inducing Early Vascularization in Critical Size Bone Defects

Early vascularization is a prerequisite for successful bone healing and endothelial progenitor cells (EPC), seeded on appropriate biomaterials, can improve vascularization. The type of biomaterial influences EPC function with bioglass evoking a vascularizing response. In this study the influence of a composite biomaterial based on polylactic acid (PLA) and either 20 or 40% bioglass, BG20 and BG...

آزاد از فرهنگ یا صادق با فرهنگ؟ گزارش مطالعه مقدماتی مقیاس حرمت خود در کودکان

With the aim of standardising the Culture Free Self Esteem Inventory (CFSEI - Form A) a study in two phases _ the pilot and a final _ was conducted in Iran. In the pilot study 199 children (age 6-13 years) were examined. The Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory was used for measuring concurrent validity of CFSEI. Moreover, in the pilot study, reliability over time for the Scale was measured. The ...

Tissue engineering-based therapeutic strategies for vocal fold repair and regeneration.

Vocal folds are soft laryngeal connective tissues with distinct layered structures and complex multicomponent matrix compositions that endow phonatory and respiratory functions. This delicate tissue is easily damaged by various environmental factors and pathological conditions, altering vocal biomechanics and causing debilitating vocal disorders that detrimentally affect the daily lives of suff...
